Seas the day!

Coastal large 3 Dr Sideboard

Coastal furniture is all about light, airiness, and a sense of total relaxation. Clean lines, natural textures, and a palette straight from a beach day: sun-bleached woods, watery blues, sandy neutrals, and crisp whites. Just go easy with those seashells—it’s about evoking the subtle vibe of the coast without harbouring a “souvenir shop.” Enough of the puns..

1. Keep it Light
Choose light-coloured or whitewashed wood like driftwood, pine, or ash. Upholstery in pale linens and or pastel cottons are a must.

2. Embrace Natural Materials
Wicker, rattan, jute, and seagrass are the holy grail of coastal texture. Use these materials in side tables, baskets, rugs, and light fixtures. They bring organic warmth that makes any space feel lived-in and vacation-ready.

3. Go Low and Easy
Keep furniture low and slouchy—deep, cushy sofas with slipcovers, open-leg chairs, and simple, streamlined beds. Think “feet up with a glass of pina colada” rather than “formal front room.”

4. Understated Accessories Only
Swap nautical kitsch for subtle nods to the sea: a coral sculpture, a sand-coloured ceramic vase, maybe a print of a tide map. Less is more…keep it minimal.

Go classic with the colour scheme…

  • Whites & Creams: Walls, large furniture pieces

  • Sky Blues & foamy Greens: Accent cushions, art, throws

  • Warm Sand Tones: Rugs, wood accents

  • Pop of Coral or Soft Yellow: Flowers, candles, or small decor

Or try a moody slant…

  • Stormy Greys & Deep Teals: Upholstery or cabinetry

  • Driftwood Browns: Furniture bases, frames

  • Muted Mustard or Terracotta: Earthy contrast in accessories

Or perhaps all out tropical…

  • Turquoise & Aqua: Used sparingly for vibrancy

  • Palm Leaf Green: In textiles or wall art…or just a real one!

  • White & Bamboo: Not too much though!
